Acts of kindness often go without recognition, but the actions of one local Florida man have gone viral for his good deeds.
A man walked into a Costco in Florida and left with 100 generators, all of which are heading to The Bahamas.
His receipt read $49,285.70 and most of that came from paying $450 a pop for 100 generators. He also purchased peas, beans, coffee, salt, pepper and other essentials, which made up the rest of his mega purchase from a Costco in Jacksonville, Florida, on Wednesday. He said:
“All of it is going to those in need on the hard-hit islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco.”2
RELATED STORY:
The man wishes not to be named. He said he doesn’t want the attention and would rather that people focus on helping those affected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. He added:
“It’s important that we help each other out. It’s better than just sitting there. You see a need and you fill it.”2
Jacksonville resident Alec Sprague said he went to Costco off Collins Road to buy a generator, and that’s when he saw a man purchasing over 100 of them.
RELATED STORY:
Sprague said the generators cost around $450 apiece. He made a post on Facebook that said:
“Was just in Cosco off Collins getting a generator (at $450 each) and this guy right here is purchasing over 100 generators and food to send to the Bahamas! All I could do was shake his hand and thank him! There still are good people in the world!”1

Getting the generators, food and other supplies to the Bahamas from Jacksonville is going to be a journey.
Trucks will drive the supplies about 250 miles south to Stuart, Florida. There is a storage facility set up there so the items can then be transported by boat to the Bahamas.
