Get ready Texas: because of the rains brought on by Hurricane Harvey, state health officials are itching to begin aerial spraying and plan to start- this week- in two Southeast Texas counties. Beginning around dusk TONIGHT, Thursday, September 7th, aerial spraying will commence in Refugio and Bee counties.

While health officials admitted that most of the mosquitoes that appear after floods don’t spread disease:

  • and standing water could increase the number of mosquitoes that do spread diseases like West Nile and Zika.
