In yet another example of greed run amuck, Cyndy Coppola was arrested on Saturday- ON HER FAMILY’S FARM- for protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. The lengths that these corporations will go to, is terrifying.
Using condemnation court and eminent domain, to get easements to the property, Coppola was arrested with her friend Ed Fallon while attempting to block trucks carrying pipeline across her farm. “It was very frustrating, and when I first saw that topsoil piled up when they started digging, my first reaction was to cry, because we’ve tried everything,” she described in the article. Now Coppola and her family are part of a nine farm strong lawsuit, using the Dakota Access Pipeline, for using eminent domain to gain easements, which they claim is against state law in Iowa.
The police and government in Iowa have chosen sides and make no mistake, they are NOT on the side of the people they claim to represent and protect, choosing instead to reject the protection of the environment and the rights of the people.
If you weren’t already mad, it’s time to get mad. Make no mistake, if they want what you have, they will use whatever means necessary to get it.
