Bayer Agrees to Pay $1.6B to Settle U.S. Birth Control Suits
Bayer has agreed to pay $1.6 billion to settle about 90 percent of the 39,000 legal claims in the U.S. over injuries women stated were related to their use of the company’s Essure birth control device. The U.S. settlements include all of the jurisdictions with significant volumes of Essure cases, including the state of California Joint Council Coordinated Proceedings and Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
