Fox: DEA looking for contractor to burn 1,000 pounds of marijuana per hour

What an absolutely incredible waste. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is actively looking for a contractor in Texas to clear its evidence vaults of marijuana that are no longer needed as evidence. That’s correct, rather than sell it to someone who can manufacture it for children who have seizures, they are going to simply burn it. What a waste. “According to a document outlining the DEA’s requirements, the incineration provider must be able to process at least 1,000 pounds of marijuana per hour, for eight hours a day. The contractor must be able to accept tightly-compressed bricks or bales of pot...

On Monday, court documents revealed that Bayer and Johnson & Johnson agreed to settle more than 25,000 U.S. lawsuits over their blood thinner Xarelto for $775 million. However, Bayer and J&J did not have to admit liability under the agreement. RELATED STORY: CNN: Bayer is cutting 12,000 jobs in the wake of its Monsanto deal In what should not come as a shock to anyone, both Bayer and Johnson & Johnson continue to believe the claims are without merit (they have blinders on about everything). CBS: FDA weighs possible cancer risks of textured breast implants

We’ve often spoken about breast implants (including textured implants) on HNN because I got my mine out seven years ago, back in 2012, after serious problems. In fact, some of the doctors back then who wouldn’t hear what was going on with me have since started doing removals and have even asked me for my advice. RELATED STORY: Yahoo: I got my breast implants removed and feel better than I have in years Please, before you even consider getting implants of any kind, do a little research. NPR: Jury awards $80 million in damages in Roundup weed killer cancer trial

For the second time in the last year, a jury has found that Monsanto’s Roundup has caused someone’s cancer. Earlier this month a six-person panel “sided with 70-year-old Edwin Hardeman, whose lawyers argued that the glyphosate-based herbicide was a ‘substantial factor’ in causing”1 his non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Yesterday they awarded him $80 million in damages. RELATED STORY: This is What You Do to your Home and Planet when you use Roundup Diagnosed in 2015, the Sonoma County man had used Roundup on his 56-acre property, for more than two decades, according to his lawsuit. Monsanto is appealing the decision (and the Johnson decision from August). However, the evil giant and its parent company Bayer still face thousands of trials all over the U.S. and hundreds of other lawsuits in the San Francisco federal court.  The law firm representing Hardeman said in a statement, “It is clear from Monsanto’s actions that it does not care whether Roundup causes cancer, focusing instead on manipulating public opinion and undermining anyone who raises genuine and legitimate concerns about Roundup. Today, the jury resoundingly held Monsanto accountable for its 40 years of corporate malfeasance and sent a message to Monsanto that it needs to change the way it does business.”1 Monsanto, of course, continues to claim that studies have shown “that the active ingredient in its widely used weed killer, glyphosate, is safe.”1 (Sure, industry studies. But you get...

Europe passes new copyright law that might change the internet forever

In the past six months, you may have heard about a law in Europe that people were concerned could “kill memes.” Only time will tell if it actually has that effect but the European Parliament has backed the law aiming to “protect content creators from unauthorized usage of their work.”1 However, at issue is the fact that the new law has some rules attached to it that don’t seem to fit inside how the internet currently functions. Oh, and censorship. In one of the most contentious decisions in the European Union’s history, the European Parliament today voted to approve a directive...
