In case you weren’t aware, companies like Ancestry and 23andMe are legally allowed, and often do, sell your data to drugmakers. However, this summer one of those partnerships became much more explicit; in July Big Pharma giant GlaxoSmithKline acquired a $300 million stake in 23andMe. Even if the world was in the process of shutting down today I’d still be sharing this article with you all and rejoicing! According to PETA, the 300 fur farms currently in Norway breed and kill 700,000 minks and 11,000 foxes every year. However, thanks to the Norwegian Animal Rights Organization (NOAH) and their decade’s long fight to educate people on the cruelty of this practice, the end is in sight. This week, at least 173 sea turtles died off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, because of the extreme cold.
