Vessel carrying 10,000 gallons of oil sinks into Mississippi River in northeast Arkansas, Coast Guard says

At 5:35 a.m. yesterday, the U.S. Coast Guard was called to respond to a sinking vessel, carrying thousands of gallons of oil, in the Mississippi River in northest Arkansas. According to a news release, the sinking happened at Hickman Landing near Blytheville.1 The vessel, called the Virginia Renee, had 10,000 gallons of diesel on board. The Coast Guard quickly implemented boom and absorbent pads to limit the spread of oil in the area and just after noon, divers were on the scene.
