GM moths to be released in New York State?

In an attempt to reduce the population of diamondback moths Cornell University has applied for a permit to execute the world’s first open-air trial of a GM version of the insect. The moths will be engineered with a female lethality trait which will leave female larvae dead and allow males to reproduce until the population is destroyed. Diamondback moths are particularly troublesome to the Brassica family of plants in the southern US, UK, parts of Europe, South and Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Africa (although not particularly in New York State). Aerial Spraying of Naled Returned Last Night to Miami using same dangerous neurotoxin with a name change!

If you live in South Dade then you probably saw, smelled or felt the familiar spray of naled last night. Even though the great Zika pandemic never panned out last year, the government is still riding the high (and reaping the monetary benefits) from last summer’s hype. So, last night, in order to combat the black salt marsh mosquitoes (not known to carry the Zika virus or other tropical diseases) or to get everyone used to spraying for Zika, Miami-Dade County sent airplanes over wide portions of Homestead, the Redland, Florida City, Cutler Bay, and South Miami-Dade. Aurora Dairy is the largest supplier of store-brand, organic milk in the U.S. You can find their products at Walmart, Costco, Target, and other major supermarket chains (for their own...

Chris Cornell’s Death Ruled Suicide By Hanging

(Note from Erin: I last saw Chris in Miami in 2004 with my old friend Anne. The show was magical…heart goes out to his family and friends.) Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, has died aged 52. The rock world is both feeling and mourning his loss this morning. While the cause of death is still undetermined, they are investigating it as a possible suicide. Cornell was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and one of the “chief architects of the grunge movement, forming Soundgarden alongside guitarist Kim Thyail and bassist Hiro Yamamoto in 1984.” He...

Nurse Accused Of Stealing $1.1M From Famous Holistic MD Who Was Found Dead

On Tuesday, Jacqueline Camaro- a cancer nurse who once worked for the famous Upper East Side oncologist Mitchell Gaynor- was arraigned on charges that she stole $1.1 million dollars from Gaynor’s office. She was ordered held without bail but will be able to post a bond if Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott approves the conditions. Her alleged theft was discovered after Gaynor’s suspicious death in 2015. Camaro pleaded not guilty to charges that included grand larceny, tax fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. The allegedly “stolen” funds weren’t noticed until after Gaynor’s death, perhaps because an audit...
