A former teacher from Louisiana is being investigated for bringing to school baked goods that were contaminated with bodily fluids. The investigation is connected to a case involving sex with children. WBRZ reported Monday that Cynthia Perkins, a former Livingston Parish school teacher, was arrested almost two weeks ago with her husband, Dennis Perkins, who is a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputy. Illegal loggers shot and killed an indigenous defender of Brazil‘s Amazon rainforest, the Guajajara tribe announced Saturday, as Reuters reported. Paulo Paulino Guajajara, in his 20s, was a member of the Guajajara group Guardians of the Forest, which was formed in 2012 to protect the Araribóia reservation in Brazil’s Maranhão state. In an interview with Reuters in September, he said that his work had become more dangerous, adding: “I’m scared at times, but we have to lift up our heads and act. A seaweed-based drug that could treat early forms of Alzheimer’s disease was approved by Chinese authorities. It’s the first drug in 17 years to treat the neurological disorder. It’s called Oligomannate and can be used to treat mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. The product was created based on how older adults who regularly ate seaweed showed a lower occurrence of the disease, according to the South China Morning Post.
