Cutting processed sugar out of young children’s diets for about one week can immediately lead to health improvements, a new study reported. For this study, Robin Lustig of the University of California San Francisco and Jean-Marc Schwarz of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University in California recruited 43 obese Latino and Black children between the ages of nine and 18. The children all had high blood pressure and bad cholesterol levels. They also had too much fat in their livers. Jon Stewart Starts Sanctuary with Wife for Abused Farm Animals

After signing off as host of “The Daily Show,” comedian Jon Stewart has revealed a new vocation – starting a sanctuary for abused farm animals. Stewart, who ended his influential show on the Comedy Central network in August, was honored with his wife Tracey at a gala Saturday night of Farm Sanctuary, which provides shelter to animals rescued from factory farms. “I’m a little uncomfortable. Applebees didn’t pay autistic employee for a year

He’s worked for the popular restaurant chain for about a year, but never received a paycheck. But that will soon change for a man in Rhode Island. Caleb Dyl, 21, was a prep-cook for Middletown, Rhode Island’s Applebees, starting in August 2014, WPRI reported. Dyl is autistic and was placed in the job by the private social service agency Resources for Human Development (who refuses to return calls last we heard). Breaking: Human DNA Found in Hot Dogs (& meat in 10% of veggie hot dogs!)

A company that uses genomic analysis technology to derive the contents of food has found a disturbing “additive” in some of the hot dogs they tested- human DNA. Clear Food chalks up the find to 2% of all hotdogs tested to hygienic issues.  Overall, the company said it found that 14.4 percent of hot dogs were problematic in some way.
