This weekend six people were shot, two fatally, in Tallahassee, Florida. The shooting occurred at a studio called Hot Yoga.

According to Tallahassee Chief of Police Michael DeLeo, Nancy Van Vessem, 61, and Maura Binkley, 21, were killed, as well as the suspect, Scott Paul Beierle, 40, of Deltona, Florida, who died of a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound.1

Dr. Nancy Van Vessem was remembered as a woman who dedicated her career to improving the health and wellness of people in the Tallahassee community.

“There were indications people fought the gunman and some tried to save others, the chief said.
Responding officers arrived in about three minutes and found the gunman already dead. The six gunshot victims were taken to hospitals. Two people died at the hospital and the other four are in critical condition, DeLeo said.”2

At this time it seems clear that the shooting was the act of a single person.

Our hearts are with the people of the Tallahassee community. We will update you as more information becomes available.
