It’s happened again but thankfully this time no one died.

On Wednesday, the State Dental Commission in Connecticut voted to sanction Ammar Idlibi with a $10,000 fine and three years of probation for performing unnecessary dental work on a 3-year-old girl. One commissioner called the dentists work a “clear case of overtreatment.” 1

RELATED STORY:

In 2016, Idlibi installed eight crowns on the little girl instead of the one that was planned saying that he had discovered more during the surgery and that the mother’s initial authorization allowed him “to treat whatever decay he found during the operation.”1The dentist claimed hat he didn’t want to have to expose the child to general anesthesia more than once.

However, the commission voted 7-2 against Dr. Idlibi. He plans to appeal.

This could have been way worse than it was.
