In a shocking upset, Democrat Doug Jones has beaten Republican Roy Moore to win the Senate seat in Alabama.
The dramatic win comes after allegations against Moore of sexually abusing teens and his history of controversial comments about women and minorities. This is the first Democratic senator to be elected in the reliably red state in a generation.
This now leaves the Republican Senate majority at 51-49.
Exit polls were virtually split. At this time Moore is still refusing to concede, choosing to wait for all the write-in ballots to be counted.
