Glenn Frey’s Medications Contributed to His Death
Irving Azoff says Eagles founding member had rheumatoid arthritis for more than 15 years.
The death of Eagles cofounder Glenn Frey on Monday at age 67 can be blamed in part on the medications he was taking, Eagles manager Irving Azoff told TheWrap.
Frey had admittedly had numerous surgeries where they were removing part of his large intestines which Medical Doctors are telling me today was totally unnecessary, dangerous and obviously did not save him.
From their article:
Frey died from rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and pneumonia, according to the band’s website. Azoff said the latter two were caused by medications that he was taking for the inflammatory disorder.
“The colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds,” he told TheWrap. “He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years.”
Editor’s note: Our own doctor (of 32 years) has had people from around the Globe come to him because of their rheumatoid arthritis and colitis. He was able to successfully get them off dangerous drugs and then treat them without drugs and now they are now pain free, in remission and grateful (as one told me today) they didn’t end up like dearly departed Glenn Frey.
“Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia,” the group said on the Eagles’ official website on Monday.
More from the Wrap:
Azoff said he was deeply in shock from the loss of his friend. He was a passionate family man, a great father, a great humanitarian, and he’s gone way too soon.”
Frey’s bandmate Don Henley said of Frey, who co-wrote classic songs including “Hotel California” and “Take It Easy,” “He was like a brother to me; we were family, and like most families, there was some dysfunction. But, the bond we forged 45 years ago was never broken, even during the 14 years that the Eagles were dissolved.”
We are so sad to see Glenn Frey die so soon. He was a legend. I was honored to last see them play life in 2003 in San Antonio from the 9th row. It will be a show I’ll never forget.
We have had so many people reach out to us tonight who have rheumatoid arthritis or with ulcerative colitis (or even children who have it) Some admitted they got the UC from the drugs they were given for other ailments (like Frey’s managers explained happened to him) Our heart goes out to his family and loved ones. We truly hope our own family members with RA will think twice before continuing to take these dangerous drugs which, according to Frey’s own friend/manager, may have cost him his life.
