90-Year-Old Chooses Road Trip Over Cancer Treatment
A Michigan woman named Norma is currently taking the trip of a lifetime and the pictures seem to prove it!
In July of 2015, her husband of 67 years- Leo, died, and two days later she was diagnosed with uterine cancer. The doctor, doing his due diligence, outlined all her treatment options but she decided that at 90 years old, an epic road trip sounded better. Her son and his wife are retired so they packed up the RV and hit the road.

Since they began their trip they’ve been to beaches, pottery studios, lakes, museums, Disney World, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Miss Norma even got to go on a hot air balloon ride!

Her son Tim, shared their doctors response about their idea, on their Facebook page:
“‘As doctors,’ he said, ‘we see what cancer treatment looks like every day. ICU, nursing homes, awful side effects and honestly, there is no guarantee she will survive the initial surgery to remove the mass. You are doing exactly what I would want to do in this situation. Have a fantastic trip!’”
At this time, Miss Norma is feeling good and loving her travels. She even reports that her cancer symptoms have reduced! She’s maintaining her positive outlook with lots of prayer and by allowing herself to take one day at a time. There’s a lot of wisdom in that.
Congrats Norma on deciding to live life to its fullest- now. What if we all approached life the same way? What if we decided that TV could wait and we got outside, somewhere different- even within our own towns- every night or every weekend? What if we explored all this world has to offer, instead of buying another pair of shoes that we don’t need? What if we really lived? I for one am so glad Norma is on this journey of a lifetime and am going to remember to live every day, as if it’s my last.
