Legendary NBA player Kobe Bryant has died in a California helicopter crash, reports said Sunday. His daughter Gianna, 13, also died in the Calabasas crash that killed her father.
He was 41.
Emergency personnel responded but no one on board survived. Nine people are confirmed dead. The outlet said that Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant — with whom he shares all four children — was not onboard.
Sources told ESPN that the helicopter was headed to a travel basketball game for Gianna, and that the other passengers were another player and their parent.
The crash occurred around 10 a.m. local time amid foggy conditions in the hills overlooking Calabasas, with the chopper sparking a brush fire on impact that hampered initial rescue efforts, according to The Los Angeles Times.
There were no survivors, and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to TMZ.
