An Arby’s restaurant in Lynchburg, VA is back open one week after being closed due to a rat infestation.

Employees were so upset about the situation, which they said has been going on for months, that they shared photos with the local news. They had alerted the regional manager but received no help with the situation.

The employees said that rat droppings were all over the fast food restaurant, including the dining room, fry station, restaurant floors, and counters. Rats had also gnawed into boxes containing Au Jus packets and tea. Local news reports:

The Lynchburg Health Department reported two complaints in the past month, both for rats. The first was received on June 7 from a Lynchburg resident who reported that there was a rat in the dining room that ran into the kitchen and the place was filthy.1

Arby’s corporate office stated at the time that they were closing the store to “ensure it meets our high operating standards.”1

The health department said the doors would be open after the restaurant passed final inspection.

After passing the final inspection with the Health Department, the restaurant reopened and said in a statement “we look forward to serving our guests.”1
