When Kevin Christians recently got a letter letting him know he would no longer have access to his daughter’s medical records- and she’s 12 by the way- he was shocked. But an investigation by KCRG-TV9’s I9 investigative team found that indeed, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, “parents are no longer able to see test results, messages from doctors and other information once a child turns 12.”1
And apparently, this is federal law! The letter says that providers want children of that age and older to take a more active role in their own health care but clearly 10 or even 12 is far too young.
And if you think about it, your child could get the HPV shot, birth control, do illegal drugs etc., all without your consent or knowledge! Please make sure to watch the video above. I’m not making this up.
Whether you are a Democrat or Republican- or neither like me- I can’t imagine anybody thinks this is a good idea. Except for our government.
