Dogs truly are man’s best friend. Their open and loving hearts are always eagerly waiting to greet us with a big smile and a wagging tail. But humans aren’t the only ones who receive their abundance of love. They offer it freely to other dogs, too.
8-month-old puppy Lana is a perfect example of how pure and kinds dogs really are. Lana was rescued from the streets of Brazil and adopted by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé. Lana is safe and happy in her new life, enjoying all the luxuries her forever home has to offer: a warm bed, delicious food every day, and two human “parents” who give her lots of love.

Lana now has a comfortable, safe and secure life but she obviously hasn’t forgotten what life is like for other dogs who haven’t been as lucky as her.
When cooler weather arrived, Suelen bought a thick blanket for Lana to lay on to make sure she stayed nice and warm inside her doghouse. One evening after tucking Lana in, her furry little angel went out to spread some of the kindness that had been shown to her.
As Suelen’s fiancé was leaving for work the next morning, he noticed something extraordinary in their front yard. Lana had left her doghouse and was cuddled up next to their fence with her new blanket, which she had pulled out of her doghouse and over to the fence to share with another dog that was sleeping on the street.
Suelen had seen Lana’s new friend roaming the streets in the neighborhood the day before. She tried to get near him to see if he had a collar with a number to call but he ran away. She assumed he was homeless since he was sleeping on the street. He became sweet little Lana’s new friend after she unselfishly decided to share some warmth and comfort with him on a chilly night. Lana’s remarkable gesture touched Suelen so much:
“I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend. My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!”
They have seen the dog a few times since Lana’s initial act of four-legged kindness, but he runs away when they get too close. They’ve been leaving extra food and water out for him, and hope if he is lost he will find his way home soon.

Suelen said she knows that if Lana could, she would still be making sure her homeless friend is cared for.
“She is the nicest little dog I’ve ever met. We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone’s life. She reminded me of this.”
The kindness of precious Lana touched her owner’s heart so much she had to share. We are glad she did.
