The “tiny house” trend has been quietly ramping up over the last couple of years. Due to the desire to be outdoors more, have less waste, own less, or be more mobile, there are now websites and YouTube channels dedicated to the “how’s” and “why’s” of this tiny movement.
Enter Wohnwagon. The Austrian start up has made the most amazing sustainable home and you can check it all out on their website (you’ll want to translate the page though).
Technically this “caravan” is built for off-grid living. But, it’s not the Alaskan wilderness off-grid you might be thinking of. This little beauty is unbelieveable.
From the article:
“Wrapped in a rounded, larch-clad shell, this charming mobile home is an eco-friendly and energy-efficient gem built with locally sourced natural and recycled materials, a green roof, and solar panels. It can be towed anywhere and fits within a footprint of a parking spot.
The green roof insulates the home and keeps it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Solar photovoltaic rooftop panels generate renewable energy that can be stored in batteries located in the caravan’s false bottom.”
Oh, and yes, it’s truly green as the bathroom comes with a composting toilet!
It also collects rainwater and gray water which is then recycled and treated for use (drinking water, household uses, or irrigation water for the green roof).
The Wohnwagon can be customized as well. This thing is so, so cool. I’ve recently downsized too and I’m telling ya, small is where it’s at!
