My friend, Eric Merola, produced an award-winning documentary which showcased Dr. Burzynski’s remarkable cancer discovery for all the world to see, and explained how he won the largest and possibly the most convoluted and intriguing legal battles against the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in American history. The movie, Burzynski- Cancer is Serious Business, is below. Please take time to watch it, if you haven’t already.

And now, there is a follow up film: Burzynski—Cancer Is Serious Business, Part II (watch it here: http://www.cultureunplugged.com/documentary/watch-online/play/51504/Burzynski–Cancer-is-Serious-Business–Part-II). The second film details his continued struggles and victories, and explores the current status of clinical testing with Antineoplastons’, which have FINALLY been sanctioned by the FDA.

Dr. Burzynski, who is trained as both a biochemist and a physician, has spent the last 35+ years developing and successfully treating cancer patients suffering with some of the most deadly forms of cancer at his clinic in Houston, Texas.

His treatment involves a gene-targeted approach, using non-toxic peptides and amino acids, known as Antineoplastons: peptides and derivatives of amino acids that act as molecular switches. However, Dr. Burzynski has since discovered, as genome research has progressed, that antineoplastons also work as genetic switches. That means they can turn off the genes that cause cancer (oncogenes) and turn on or activate tumor suppressor genes (the genes that fight cancer). Part of his treatment strategy, called “Personalized Gene Targeted Cancer Therapy,” therefore includes mapping the patient’s entire cancer genome.

Part of that process involves analyzing about 24,000 genes, in order to identify the abnormal genes. Once they know which genes are involved in the cancer, drugs and supplements are identified to target those specific genes. From Healthy Holistic Living “Antineoplastons work on approximately 100 cancer-causing genes, but traditional oncology agents (including chemotherapy) may also be used, typically in combination with antineoplastons. This expanded direction of “personalized gene-targeted treatment” has permitted people who would otherwise be denied access to the still-unapproved antineoplastons to benefit from his treatment.”

The FDA began trying to eliminate Dr. Burzynski (because they saw him as a threat) and his discovery, which posed a danger to the cancer industry, as early as 1977, when he first attempted to get antineoplastons approved- without any financial support from the American government, the pharmaceutical industry, or the cancer establishment. Thus far, he is the only scientist in United States’ history to enter the federal drug approval process for a proprietary cancer therapy without help from one of the aforementioned entities.

The reason he was (and still is) considered a significant threat to the cancer industry is because he’s the sole patent holder of the treatment, which means he’s the sole beneficiary, should the FDA approve Antineoplastons—not a pharmaceutical company and their bosses.

There is ego and cash at stake- and a lot of both. If the FDA were to approve Antineoplastons it would not only threaten conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, but it would also result in billions of dollars of cancer research funds being funneled over to the one scientist who has exclusive patent rights, Dr. Burzynski. And many, many doctors don’t want to admit that slash and burn doesn’t work- they don’t want to have to eat their words about the thousands of people they have killed- when they didn’t have to. All because they were too proud to look outside the box.

The honest truth is that everyday, medical breakthroughs are suppressed or ignored because they put medicine as we know it, at risk. The industry always chooses profits over cures. Proof of that is the fact that rather than invest in actual cures, over the past five decades- medicine- has invested in awareness campaigns. But all the pink ribbons in the world will never cure breast cancer.

More from the article:

“Incredibly, in August of last year, America’s National Cancer Institute (NCI) finally acknowledged and cited some of Burzynski’s peer-reviewed Antineoplaston studies, as well as findings by Japanese researchers who have been independently reproducing Antineoplaston clinical trial studies since the 1980’s, without any involvement by Dr. Burzynski.

…a Japanese team, consisting of pathologists, oncologists and surgeons, has conducted the first-ever independently-run randomized controlled human clinical trials on Antineoplastons, and the results thereof. According to Dr. Hideaki Tsuda, MD with the Kurume Medical University in Japan: “After 27 years of independently testing Antineoplastons—including randomized clinical trials, we found that Dr. Burzynski was right. It’s obviously not anecdotal anymore.”

I hope you’ll take the time to watch the first and second movie. I’m so thankful to my friend for investing his time to get the word out and now we can help by forwarding this information on to our friends! Thanks Health Nuts.
