(Editor’s Note: I’m not here to scream the sky is falling. However, I am personally stocking up while it’s still legal to sell and hope it stays that way!  Here’s the only one I use and trust (and it’s organic.)

Last Wednesday, the DEA amended the current Schedule I Controlled Substances Act to include tighter regulations on marijuana extracts, including cannabidiol (or CBD oil).

From the article:

“…the DEA says it is, “creating a separate code number for marihuana extract with the following definition: ‘Meaning an extract containing one or more cannabinoids that has been derived from any plant of the genus Cannabis, other than the separated resin (whether crude or purified) obtained from the plant.’ Extracts of marihuana will continue to be treated as Schedule I controlled substances.”

What this means for you

For those of you who don’t do “technical” speak, this means that CBD oil and any other extracts derived from the cannabis plant will fall under Schedule 1 drugs. The federal government is allowing CBD oil to be classified like heroin, LSD, marijuana, and ecstasy.

(Since we know that no one has been harmed/killed by using CBD, rather the opposite, the only reason to do this is because it will hurt Big Pharma’s bottom line.)

Those who are currently licensed to produce and handle extracts of marijuana extracts are required to apply for a modification of their registration by Jan. 13, 2017. Also, the product can no longer cross state lines.

(Canada’s PM is headed in the right direction. Check out the video below.)

Their decision and subsequent declaration (critics say they did it silently to avoid criticism) was justified by international treaties:

“Under international drug control treaties administered by the United Nations, some differences exist between the regulatory controls pertaining to marihuana extract versus those for marihuana and tetrahydrocannabinols.”

Medicinal marijuana activists are questioning the legality of the decision. Robert Hoban, a Colorado cannabis attorney and adjunct professor of law at the University of Denver said, “This action is beyond the DEA’s authority. The DEA can only carry out the law, they cannot create it. Here they’re purporting to create an entirely new category called ‘marijuana extracts,’ and by doing so wrest control over all cannabinoids. They want to call all cannabinoids illegal. But they don’t have the authority to do that.”

We will obviously be watching this story and anything that happens as a result. There is no reason to panic but if you are currently using CBD oil, I’d stock up. If you’ve always wanted to try it, I’d stock up. If you know someone who needs it, let them know about this story.
