According to a study published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information, MRSA, the common cold, toenail fungus- and everything in between- can be found at the gym. In fact, some gym equipment is actually dirtier than a public toilet! 1 (But honestly, bacteria and viruses are everywhere and a healthy immune system can handle them.)

Now, this is no reason to stop going to the gym, just be aware. I mean think about it, by the time you jump on a machine 50-100 other people have potentially touched the same one! So, either take a cloth with you to wipe your machine down or make sure to wash your hands before you touch your eyes, nose, and mouth.
