I saw a meme recently that said “the black sheep in the family is usually the one telling the truth”. So perhaps sharing this on your page WITH mainstream sources will wake people up and they realize whether climate change is severe, or not, or man made- BLOCKING THE SUN is not the solution.
You wonder why Bill Gates is funding it along with his buddy Oil tycoon billionaire N Murray Edwards. Well, then we’ll never learn about sustainable energy as there is zero need to block the sun which could send us reeling into an ice age.
Murray has an agenda. He wants to you to keep paying billions a YEAR in oil tax subsidies to keep him big and rich.
When, in fact, we could have gone sustainable years ago. We have a solar powered 2 bedroom house and a solar powered car (I started on a shoestring budget in 2005) Long gone will those days go using a solar car when alas, the sunshine is blocked.
Don’t believe us? Read the mainstream links (especially Scientific Medical Journal Nature.com read by millions per day worldwide!) which promotes the idea of spraying the stratosphere to “dim” the sun and is sick enough to state that it’s “only going to cost us just under ten BILLION dollars per year).

Zhen Dai, a doctoral candidate at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her colleagues are currently testing whether or not calcium carbonate could potentially help our fight against global warming caused by greenhouse gas pollution.
“The idea is simple: spray a bunch of particles into the stratosphere, and they will cool the planet by reflecting some of the Sun’s rays back into space. Scientists have already witnessed the principle in action. When Mount Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it injected an estimated 20 million tonnes of sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere — the atmospheric layer that stretches from about 10 to 50 kilometres above Earth’s surface. The eruption created a haze of sulfate particles that cooled the planet by around 0.5 °C. For about 18 months, Earth’s average temperature returned to what it was before the arrival of the steam engine.
The idea that humans might turn down Earth’s thermostat by similar, artificial means is several decades old. It fits into a broader class of planet-cooling schemes known as geoengineering that have long generated intense debate and, in some cases, fear.
Researchers have largely restricted their work on such tactics to computer models. Among the concerns is that dimming the Sun could backfire, or at least strongly disadvantage some areas of the world by, for example, robbing crops of sunlight and shifting rain patterns.”1
So there is a reason to be worried and yet they press on. We have absolutely no idea what might happen if we were to “dim” the sun. Given how much it could alter and given what’s at stake, this seems to be the height of irresponsibility.

“If all goes as planned, the Harvard team will be the first in the world to move solar geoengineering out of the lab and into the stratosphere, with a project called the Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment (SCoPEx). The first phase — a US$3-million test involving two flights of a steerable balloon 20 kilometres above the southwest United States — could launch as early as the first half of 2019. Once in place, the experiment would release small plumes of calcium carbonate, each of around 100 grams, roughly equivalent to the amount found in an average bottle of off-the-shelf antacid. The balloon would then turn around to observe how the particles disperse.”2

Because this experiment will be the first to truthfully and unapologetically come under the banner of (solar) geoengineering, it’s under intense scrutiny. Including from some environmental groups, who are concerned that these efforts are nothing more than “a dangerous distraction from addressing the only permanent solution to climate change: reducing greenhouse-gas emissions.”3 (My emphasis)

And, aware of the attention this feat is attracting, they claim they are moving slowly and setting up clear oversight for the experiment; “Getting it done right is far more important than getting it done quickly.”4
Many questions and concerns remain:
- some researchers have suggested that solar geoengineering could alter precipitation patterns and even lead to more droughts in some regions
- others warn that one of the possible benefits of solar geoengineering — maintaining crop yields by protecting them from heat stress — might not come to pass
- a study published in August found that yields of maize (corn), soya, rice and wheat fell after two volcanic eruptions, Mount Pinatubo in 1991 and El Chichón in Mexico in 1982, dimmed the skies
So far, “science” seems to indicate that the benefits could “well outweigh” any potential negative consequences…but consequences for whom? Us? What about the world? Has anyone taken them into account? What about the poor? Surely dimming the sun and any potential failure in crops would worsen their fate.

Thankfully, in November in Quito, Ecuador, at the annual summit of the Montreal Protocol (body that governs chemicals that damage the stratospheric ozone layer) “several countries called for a scientific assessment of the potential effects that solar geoengineering could have on the ozone layer, and on the stratosphere more broadly.”5
One last issue that should be pointed out: this experiment began as a partnership between atmospheric chemist James Anderson of Harvard and experimental physicist David Keith (who founded the company Carbon Engineering that’s currently working to commercialize technology to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere). After coming to Harvard in 2011, Keith used research funding he had received from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, to begin planning the experiment so if this thing takes off, he stands to make a lot of money. This is an obvious conflict of interest.
