4th Doctor (DO) Found Dead
SECOND UPDATE: We are now up to 11 doctors including our colleague Mitch Gaynor, MD, holistic oncologist of almost 30 yrs., found dead in the woods outside his home. They say it’s “suicide.” We’ll update with a full recap shortly. That’s at least 11 doctors in less than 90 days (far more died in that time but not ones who appear suspicious).
Lisa Riley DO (Doctor of Osteopathy), from Lee County Georgia, was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head. She was an emergency room physician at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in the state of Georgia. She was only 34. Besides being an osteopath, I have no idea if she had any holistic or “alternative” training or beliefs. Our heart goes out to her family and loved ones. Her husband called it into 911, and was charged with attempted murder, but it was determined he was framed and charges dropped (see links at bottom for that story).
It’s so hard for me to break these stories as I feel for their friends, family and loved ones. I also have been with a well known and outspoken osteopath myself for the last 6 years. We knew some of these doctors and it’s beyond tragic.
We are sorry to announce the news that brings the total to 9 doctors, missing or found dead, in less than a month. We have Dr. Bradstreet (who was also residing in Georgia but had previously been in Florida) who was found with a gunshot wound to his chest. Dr. Bradstreet was an outspoken, alternative MD and well known in the autism community. He’d helped many autistic children including his own child and was loved by many. It brought me no joy to break that story as I knew him and had many friends in common with this great man. Then Dr. Hedendal, DC, PhD (Harvard) was found slumped over in his car. He’d come from an athletic event and was in perfect shape. He also had a radio show about anti-aging and said that he expected to live well beyond the average age of death for men (in their 70’s). He was only in his mid 60’s and very fit and healthy, as his personal friends have told me, as well as someone who worked in his office. Again, it was very sad to break that story, and like Dr. Bradstreet, I waited to do so until it was publicly announced by the family or funeral homes online. His photos show the toned physique of an athlete. The third is Dr. Teresa Sievers who, just days ago, was found murdered in her home in Bonita Springs, Florida. It brought me no joy to break the story about all three alternative doctors found dead in less than two weeks. It was also tough to announce that there are 5 doctors that have gone missing in less than a month.
Dr. Sievers’ case (the last to be found dead before Dr. Riley) still has not been solved. In fact, the sheriff who is leading the investigation said publicly (which has been in mainstream news) that she was definitely targeted. He also said that when the whole story comes out with all its intricacies that “books and movies will be made about her murder,” as it’s such a huge story. We have no idea what that means, nor proof that it is connected with the other deaths or the 5 missing doctors.
At this time, no one has been arrested.
Here’s a quote from the article on Dr. Lisa Riley, DO:
An autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab on the body of 34-year-old Doctor Lisa Riley reveals that her cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, according to the GBI. She was found dead in her home in the Northampton subdivision in Lee County on Friday.
An autopsy conducted by the GBI crime lab in Macon revealed that the cause of Mrs. Riley’s death was a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death is still under investigation as agents continue to process the scene of the incident and conduct numerous interviews.
Investigators stayed there most of the weekend, gathering evidence in her mysterious death. Her husband, 32-year old Thomas Riley, called 911 around 8:30 a.m. Friday, and said he found her dead.
The husband is being held at the jail on an unrelated charge. So far he, nor anyone else, has been charged with murder. Interestingly the husband was charged with attempted murder before, held for 2 years with no trial and in the end it was determined he was (allegedly) FRAMED and was released. All charges were then dropped. He’d already sat in a jail cell for 2 years without a trial, but then was back to being a star in the boxing ring. Gun residue was found on his ex’s hand but not on his. With this second VERY similar case we cannot make a call on his wife’s death until an investigation is complete. It’s very tragic. His wife leaves behind their 9 month old baby.
We will update you as we know more about the case.
Our heart goes out to the family and loved ones of all the doctors including Dr. Lisa Riley.
