Something doesn’t seem quite right about seeing a parade of cars filled with hungry people in Miami waiting in between two of the city’s most luxurious hotels.
A line of cars a MILE-long was directed in a huge U-curve in the middle of the Setai Hotel and the W Hotel, two of Miami Beach’s ritziest hotspots. Lifeguards and other volunteers organized the line up and down the street that way, probably because it’s a long, straight shot for a few miles before any significant turns or other obstacles.

The organizers must’ve thought this would be the easiest way to get people in and out without causing too much of a traffic jam or taking up too many neighboring streets.
Nevertheless, whether they were trying to send a message or not, the proximity of desperate, low-income families waiting in line to for a food bank right next to glamorous hotels in Miami was strange to see.
Without a doubt, hotels are hurting during the pandemic too, without their usual clientele filling up their rooms, restaurants, and bars.
