A Glass Of Red Wine Equivalent To An Hour At Gym
New research from the University of Alberta in Canada has found that the health benefits of resveratrol, a compound found in red wine (it’s in the skin of grapes- as well as blueberries, raspberries, and mulberries), are similar to those we get from hitting the gym.
Just as working out at the gym improves physical performance, heart function, and muscle strength, resveratrol was seen to do the same. And that’s good news for those who can’t exercise. Now, this doesn’t mean that you should plan weekly drinking sessions, but the well-documented health benefits of red wine reveal that those who drink a glass of red wine a day are less likely to develop dementia, or cancer. It’s also good for your heart, has anti-aging properties, and can regulate blood sugar.
Check out this video where the doctor talks about his thoughts on this compelling study:
I’m not a big wine drinker myself, but I know all my friends who love it will be very intrigued by the news! Remember, always drink responsibly IF you are going to drink.
