In case you hadn’t heard, at the start of fall 2018, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill into law, aimed at banning the sale of cosmetics that were tested on animals. Denver is set to become the first city in the nation to (basically) decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms. (It basically directs the police to “look the other way” on adult psilocybin use.) After voting this week, it’s looks as though Initiative 301 will pass- albeit narrowly– with just 50.6 percent of the vote: 89,320 votes in favor and 87,341 against. However, at the beginning of the month, “despite an outcry from women”1 to ban the textured breast implants associated with anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (cancer of the cells of the immune system) the FDA announced those implants will still be allowed for sale in the United States although they will come with a strongly worded warning.
