Fox: Toxic substances found in diapers in France: government agency

According to a study on Wednesday by the French environment agency ANSES, a variety of toxic substances- including the weed-killer glyphosate– has been found in babies’ diapers in France. Bayer/Monsanto keep taking the hits. (We cannot wait to watch them finally crumble!) “The study said research had found substances including butylphenyl methylpropional used in beauty products and certain aromatic hydrocarbons as well as glyphosate. All of them pose potential risks. The French government said manufacturers and retailers should ensure that the substances are removed from diapers.”1 French Health Minister Agnes Buzyn, Environment Minister Francois de Rugy, and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire issued a joint statement calling on manufacturers and retailers to take measures within the next 15 days, to eliminate those toxic chemicals from babies’ diapers and make them as safe as possible. Buzyn added that she does not believe there is “immediate, serious risk to the health of children”2 but rather that it is important to take precautions. But the truth is, we don’t know what it means having that chemical that close to children, in that context. Glyphosate is set to be phased out in France within three years but farmers are exempt from the ban “where there is no credible alternative to the pesticide.”3 That makes what John Salley and the plant-based pesticide company, PureCrop1 are doing, all the more important! Nathan Sutherland, 36, the licensed practical nurse who was supposed to care for a 29-year-old woman in a vegetative state at a long-term Arizona nursing facility, has been arrested and charged with raping her. Staff at the Hacienda Healthcare facility in Phoenix, AZ only discovered she was pregnant after she went into labor last month. Paramedics were called to the facility moments after the delivery. Sutherland, who had worked at the facility since 2011, will be charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of vulnerable adult abuse. According to the chief, it was “good old-fashioned police work”1 and...

U.S. water fluoridation: A forced experiment that needs to end

By the Children’s Health Defense Team The United States stands almost entirely alone among developed nations in adding industrial silicofluorides to its drinking water—imposing the community-wide measure without informed consent. Globally, roughly 5% of the population consumes chemically fluoridated water, but more people in the U.S. drink fluoride-adulterated water than in all other countries combined. Within the U.S., just under a third (30%) of local water supplies are not fluoridated; these municipalities have either held the practice at bay since fluoridation’s inception or have won hard-fought battles to halt water fluoridation. Dozens of studies and reviews—including in top-tier journals...

Airbnb wants to pay you to move to Italy for 3 months — Really!

(Editor’s Note: I thought with the weather and state of things in our world right now, that we all might like a feel-good story like this. Read on!) If you’ve never stayed in an Airbnb, you are missing out; there are homes and apartments and yurts all over the world waiting to be stayed in, allowing you a home base so you can travel. Or even have a staycation in. (My editor swears by them and uses them now for her family’s summer holidays.) And if you’ve been wanting to travel or just get away, Airbnb might be able to make it possible. “The online home rental company recently announced they would be paying four people to take a three-month sabbatical to the Italian village of Grottole in the southern region of Basilicata. The winners will work with Airbnb, welcoming guests into their new homes as Homes and Experiences host. They’ll receive one month of training from other local experience hosts before they venture out on their own.”1 In a recent study conducted by Airbnb, 1 in 3 U.S. participants said they felt like they really needed to take a sabbatical in order to “avoid burnout” but that it wasn’t fiscally possible. Enter Airbnb. Working with Wonder Grottole, a local group promoting urban regeneration in the village, all expenses for the four lucky travelers will be covered. Silvio Donadio, founder of Wonder Grottole,...
