Breaking: Explosion at Flamanville Nuclear Power Plant in France, Some Injures Reported

Late last night an explosion occurred in an engine room at the Flamanville Nuclear Power Plant, in France’s northwest region. After the blaze started the power at Reactor №1 was “disconnected automatically.” Though five people were slightly injured after they inhaled fumes, authorities claim there is no nuclear contamination risk to locals. While the explosion was a “significant technical failure,” it’s not a nuclear accident because the explosion happened outside of the “nuclear zone”. Endangered Hamsters have become Cannibals Thanks to Corn Diet

A new paper, published in The Royal Society, has found that a monotonous diet of corn is leading to cannibalism in rodents. The paper, from scientists at the University of Strasbourg, set out to determine why the European hamster (which is critically endangered) had been dying off at an alarming rate. Researchers initially believed that pesticides and industrial plowing were to blame but eventually found that diet was the root cause.
