CNN: The North Atlantic right whale will soon be extinct unless something is done to save it, researchers warn

The increasingly rare North Atlantic right whale is in danger, and its fate has always been left to humans. These lovely creatures have been hunted almost to the brink of extinction, and their popluation is declining sharply again. Immediate action is required if they are to have ANY hope for survival.  Nonprofit ocean defense group Oceana, said in a recent report that unless protections are put into action NOW, the North Atlantic free whale will die. USA Today: Coast Guard issues warning on charging phone batteries after California boat fire

The Coast Guard has issued a safety bulletin following the California boat fire that killed 34 people. They are suggesting commercial boat operators restrict unsupervised charging of cellphones and other electronic devices. On Thursday, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) issued a preliminary report on the fire that destroyed the dive ship Conception near Santa Cruz Island on Labor Day. Fifty attorneys general from US states and territories signed onto an antitrust investigation into Google this week. The development places even more pressure on the influential tech firm that is already facing intense government scrutiny over its market dominance.
